Point being: I've done some painting lately. A lot of painting. A whoooole lot.
And that means several things: I'm tired of painting, for one! =) And also that I know my paint supplies. You can read about the paint I lurve here. Which leads me to the paint brush I love.
When I bought the miscellaneous stuff I needed to paint, I shopped by price. I figured that it didn't matter. A brush is a brush is a brush, et cetera, and so forth. I bought my tape, paint trays, and everything else the same way.
I was pretty interested in comparing the Purdy brush and roller I was sent to test with the generic ones I'd bought. I figured that there would be little, to no difference in performance.
I was so wrong!
When I started using the Purdy roller, I had to reload it with paint pretty often. At first, I was annoyed. But then I realized that I was reloading it so often because it was actually getting more paint on the wall! It was performing so much better than the other roller (all the specs - nap length, recommended surfaces - were the same between them).
Buying the nicer roller DOES make a difference! I'm so glad I got to try the Purdy brush & roller set, because I'd never have known that (hey, I'm cheap like that! =).
I was even more impressed with the brush. It's handcrafted and it does a fantastic job. It loads up with paint well and the paint goes on beautifully. There aren't a lot of brush lines, which I love, since I'm really picky about that. And while my cheap-o brush was leaving bristles after about every fifth stroke, this one never lost one.
I usually throw my brushes and rollers away when I'm done with them (I know, that's bad for the earth, so just whip me with wet noodles and get it over with, k?). I still tossed the roller when I was done with it, but I washed and kept the brush. I used it again on the playroom, and it performed just as well (it cleaned up really well, too).
So, like it says on the Purdy website: "You spend 3 months picking the perfect paint color. Why just 3 seconds picking a brush?" They are so right! And I am SO thrilled, now that I've found the perfect paint and the perfect roller and brush to apply it. Purdy also has an eco-friendly line (and they'll plant a tree in your name when you purchase products from it!).
I love my Purdy paint brush and loved using the roller, too. I definitely recommend them! I can guarantee you that I'll be spending the extra cash on these nicer products whenever we paint in the future.
