Shopping for Coffee? Shoffee!

Shopping + Coffee = Shoffee!

So what's Shoffee?

Shoffee.com sells single-serve coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and the brilliant machines that make all those drinks. (Yep, one machine can produce all three - it's pretty cool!)

We had the pleasure of trying the Keurig Elite Brewing System, complements of Shoffee.com. It's such a great fit for us! I don't drink coffee, so having a coffee pot is useless to me. @Dad_o drinks lots and lots of coffee, though, so we definitely need one. The Keurig brewing system covers all the bases and is actually something I can use, too. I love being able to have hot cocoa without using the microwave!

We also got to try a variety of coffees, teas, and hot cocoa from Shoffee.com. Let me tell you, the variety of flavors to try with this are practically endless! The different brews and flavors of coffee alone offer a ton of variety. Add in the teas and hot cocoas, and even iced coffee flavors, and it's like having a coffee shop in your kitchen.

My patience level usually ranges between zero and less than zero, so waiting for things to brew wouldn't suit me. I like that this brewer can get me from thirsty to drink-in-hand in about a minute. @Dad_o likes that he can remember to grab a cup of coffee on his way out the door and not end up late for work.

Speaking of @Dad_o grabbing coffee on the run, Shoffee.com also sent us this sweet travel mug. Much as @Dad_o wanted it, I claimed it as my own. I am looking forward to a winter full of hot cocoa and tea on-the-go! It was always too much of a hassle before. But popping a K-Cup into the brewer and pushing a button? I can handle that! =)

K-Cups are the little single-serve containers that you put into the brewer to get your hot cup of goodness. Watch a video of how the system works at Shoffee.com. Already in love with the coffee you drink at home? No worries, you can pick up the reusable filter and continue to use it (plus get to try all the awesome K-Cup flavors! best of both worlds...)

Since I don't drink coffee, I'll leave it to @Dad_o to give you that part of the review:

"How it works: It keeps a reservoir of water pretty hot all of the time. Then, when you want a hot drink, you put a cup under the spout and stick a little coffee/tea/hot cocoa/whatever pod in the machine, hit a button, and in about a minute, you have a very hot cup of whatever you want. So for me, instead of having to pace back and forth while I wait for my old coffee pot to brew, I can have my travel mug filled in nothing flat.

We tested out hot chocolate, English breakfast tea, Indian spiced chai tea, and three kinds of coffee (ranging from Donut House blend to something made by that Emeril guy). I don’t have the most distinguished palate in the world, but I do think that the coffee has a little bit of that instant coffee aftertaste that for me took some getting used to. But I did get used to it, and now I drink Keurig coffee pretty much every day. As for the hot chocolate and the tea, they all tasted good, authentic, and aftertaste-free to me."

And for the mommy-set? Most of the moms I interact with are caffeine fiends. With the constant running and general lack of sleep, we just need it. It doesn't get much more convenient than 0-caffeinated in 60 seconds! And since Shoffee.com has so many yummy flavors, you can cut back on the Starbucks habit and start making it in-house (which will save both money and time!).

A box of K-Cups is between $10-$15 for about 24 cups. Yes, that's more expensive than brewing a plain pot of coffee in a regular pot. However, if you like your coffee gourmet (and especially if you're shelling out $3-5/cup for it at a coffee shop!), this is a great deal!

If the single-serve lifestyle sounds appealing, Shoffee.com can hook you up. They've got great service and everything you'll need to get started, from brewer to mug.

Absolutely terrible for the environment. All that waste and keeping water hot all the time just in case someone decides they want coffee...

@Samantha - you bring up a good point. FYI, this bad boy uses LESS power than a light bulb to keep the water hot. Love that!

I have been wanting one of these little miracle machines since I used one at the eye doctor's office. They are simply amazing!

I have had very limited experience with Shoffee.com. I placed an order on 1/5/2010 for the Spicy Eggnog. On 1/12/2010 I had to email them to find out what was going on with my order, and Robyn then informed me that the item was Out Of Stock and was a limited. At that time I was offered only an exchange or credit. I simply told her that I required a refund as I was unsure as to if I would do business with them again. As of 1/20/2010 I had not received my refund and *again* had to contact them/Robyn. I have warned Shoffee.com that if I fail to get my refund by 1/22/2010, then I would issue a BBB Complaint and proceed with having my credit card company forcibly issue the refund.

Definitely displeased, and would *not* do business with them again. They may be the cheapest (not by much, however), but they aren't worth the hassle to me.

Just a quick note - all K-cup brewing systems can utilize a reusable filter called 'My K-cup':
http://www.amazon.com/Keurig-K-Cup-Reusable-Coffee-Filter/dp/B000DLB2FI

Granted, this increases the prep and clean-up time a bit.

As for flavors, I'm a big fan of Green Mountain's Kona blend, their National Wildlife Blend, and Caribou Coffee's Caribou blend. They are medium roasts that bests the Donut Shop Coffee IMO and is right on par with Starbucks' Americano and McDonald's regular coffee (some of the best, to me).

What do you think? I'd love to know! A little housekeeping: Giveaways open to US residents only, except when noted at the end of the post. I'll email winners, but I need to hear back within 36 hours of when I send the email. Otherwise, a new winner will be chosen (sorry, no exceptions). =)
