The Kaboost.
What is it? This is the best thing to happen to mealtime since the kids’ table. You basically attach it to any chair to add a few inches of lift and bring your kiddo up to table height.
The great thing about it is that it shows kids a little respect and lets them feel like they’re participating in mealtime just like the rest of the family. They get to sit in a real chair just like everyone else. This is an especially good product for kids who've outgrown the booster seat, but still aren't able to sit at the table comfortably.
Technical details? It’ll accept a chair up to 30 inches across and hold 300 pounds (if your kid weighs more than 300 pounds, perhaps it’s time to push him away from the table anyway). Depending on which way you place Kaboost on the ground, it’ll provide either 3.75 or 4.5 inches of boost. The rubber feet don’t slide around and won’t scratch up your floors. When you need the chair for non-kid-types, just lift the chair off and plop it down on the ground.
I’m a huge fan of the Kaboost. My only complaint is that although it folds up to just over 12” x 12” the folded up package is a little bit awkward to carry and store – but hey, no more so than the average booster seat I suppose.
Oh…and one last thing. Your chair is not going to go toppling over just because you’ve got it up on the little Kaboost stilts. Try it for yourself; you’ll see its solid on its little green feet, which are on springs to keep them hugging the legs of the chair tightly. It's quite sturdy, stable, and well-constructed.
This is a great way to eliminate the separation of having a "kids' table," especially at holidays. And although Lovie is too young to know just yet, I think that perhaps putting kids at the table just like their adult counterparts may encourage more grown-up table manners and eating behaviors (definitely a plus). The bottom line? Kaboost is a great transition tool for moving from booster to bare chairs.
